Pelcher
It was about the year 1832 that Morris Peltier came to Lake Pleasant to live on 100 acres in Lot 9 just west of the present Speculator four corners. Unlike many of his fellow settlers, he was not a young man and his growing sons were already nearing maturity.
Morris Peltier was born 1767 in Canada, but had lived in the United States as early as 1815. He Married Phebe _____ ?, born 1784 in Boston MA. The French name Peltier was pronounced by the Family?s Yankee neighbors as ?Pelcher? and so spelled phonetically in the records. Usage caused the name to be changed by 1850 to Pelcher. Phebe Pelcher died prior to 1860, her husband before 1870.

II) John Pelcher, born 1817, married Lovica ______? Born 1828 He was a fishing guide in 1870. The family left Lake Pleasant before 1860, but John and his son John had returned by 1870

2) Nelson Pelcher, born 1845, owned 75 acres in Lot 120 of the Oxbow Tract in 1886. In 1892, he was a lumberman, living with his family in Wells. He married Rachel Cockrane, born 1855
