  		1868 map of Canajoharie, New York This 1868 map of Canajoharie, New York was obtained from the Canajoharie Public Library. It contains references to 4 Abeling families, including... C. Abeling - Front Street. This is believed to be Charles Henry Abeling(Carl Ebeling) who immigrated to the area around 1832. C. Abeling - Maple Ave, believed to be Charles E Abeling, born in 1840. We know that Charles eventually purchased land in this exact area from his older brother Henry around 1874, and our guess is that he lived at this location in 1868 prior to formally buying the property from his brother. H.C Abeling - Maple Ave, believed to be Henry Charles Abeling, who was known to own an extensive amount of land along Maple Ave. F.A Abeling - Corner of Montgomery Street, Mapletown Rd. We believe this to Frederick Augustus Ebeling, who did not switch his name to Abeling, eventhough the map maker might have thought so. Frederick A Ebeling was a nephew of Charles Abeling (Carl Ebeling).

  1855 Census Montgomery co. Ny list Andrew at 6 years old Amsterdam Evening Recorder, Monday Feb 27, 1911 OBITUARY for Andrew Abeling. Canajoharie, Feb. 27. Andrew Abeling died Saturday afternoon, at his home, in Gioversville. Mr. Abeling was a life long resident of this Village, until a year ago when he moved to Gloversville. He has been ill for the past several months and death was due to cancer. Mr. Abeling was born in Canajoharie 62 years ago and was the son of Charles Abeling and Sophia Scharff-Abeling. He was one of a large family and a twin brother of Orlando Abeling, who died in this village about two years ago. The deceased was a tinsmith by trade and worked at it for many years. Besides his widow he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jay Nellis and Mrs. Harry Hoag of this village, and Mrs. William Stocker of Gioversville; one sister, Mrs, John Zwank of this village, and six brothers, William J.,Henry, Charles and Robert of this village, John L., of Amsterdam, and Louis of Ilion. The remains will be taken to Fort Plain on Tuesday afternoon and the funeral held in the Nellis Memorial chapel in the Fort Plain cemetery at 3 o'clock. Died: Death date of Feb 25, 1911 in Gloversville, NY and was 61yrs, 5months, 15 days old, was obtained for the Ft. Plain Cemetery Records Index at Montg. County Historical Achives.
