    • LITTLE FALLS: Mary Veronica Gartner, 95, a long time Little Falls resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at her home with the love and support of her son at her side.

      Born in Little Falls on April 15, 1918, Mary was the daughter of the late Peter and Josephine (Piniaha) Yestremski. Raised and educated locally, she attended St. Johnsville Schools. On June 29, 1940 she married Frank G. Gartner at St. Mary?s Church in Little Falls; sharing 66 years of a wonderful and loving relationship filled with great affection and admiration until his passing on September 28, 2006.

      Mary worked for many years as a dress maker for P & K in Little Falls. She enriched the lives of her family with her kindness, caring, generosity, and unending devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a revered member of her family and will always be remembered for her wonderful smile, great cooking, and her wizardry in creating clothes with her sewing machine. Mary was a devoted parishioner of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls.

      She is survived by her loving children, Robert of Sterling, VA and her daughter Carole Ehlinger and son-in-law Jim of Colts Neck, NJ; her cherished grandchildren, Christine McDonough and husband Dan, Catherine and James Ehlinger, Jr.; her adoring great granddaughters, Allison, Megan, and Katelyn McDonough who will miss her amazing spirit, her cooking, sewing lessons, and playing with the toys and dolls at her house. Mary is also survived by her sister, Katherine Roginski of Mohawk; her in-law, Mary (Mimi) Gartner and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

      Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Tony Yestremski, and Michael and Joseph who died at birth and her sisters, Stella Matis, Caroline Edwards, Blanche Hajczewski, Gertrude Nellis and Veronica Ostasz.

      In lieu of floral arrangements, expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to Holy Family Parish, Little Falls; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

      The family will receive friends and relatives at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY (315)823-2424 on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Mary?s funeral service will commence on Monday, October 21, 2013 beginning with prayer at 10:15 a.m. from the chapel of the funeral home and at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, corner of Main/John Streets, Little Falls, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Lawless, Pastor. Procession will then follow to St. Mary?s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Frank.
